When Phyllis Solomon, Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce Education Committee Chair, approached Julie Marston at the LOFT School with a request to create a school packet for the Chamber to send to students who requested Port Townsend information, teacher and students accepted the challenge enthusiastically.

The students created such a wealth of information, stories, poems, and drawings that selecting a portion of the work became an almost overwhelming undertaking. What follows is a representative sample of the material we received. We hope you enjoy this story, and we regret that we are not able to present you with the entire volume of work.
