The
Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce is an active force in all segments
of the Port Townsend business community and promotes economic viability
on the Olympic Peninsula and beyond. Here are current activities
of the PT Chamber.
Transportation Choices and Opportunities
Continued to promote alternative transportation projects by working
with Jefferson Transit, Washington State Ferries, Kitsap Transit,
Jefferson County BOCC, City of Port Townsend staff, and private
businesses. Projects include, Haines Place Park & Ride/VIC site
plan, Gateway VIC site plan, Jefferson Transit logo development,
high speed passenger only ferry service, parking management study,
and Keystone Terminal study.
Worked with the Leader's
publisher and the Chamber's PR Committee chair to complete
on Chamber's Annual Report. Continued the weekly Chamber membership
email notification of Chamber meetings and local events. Serving
as the fiscal agent for the Port Townsend Bicycle Association and
the City's Non-Motorized Transportation Committee for the
production of a county and city bike and walking trail map. Continue
to work with Puget Sound Energy, Frederickson Electric, Port Townsend
Paper, and the City to install lighting for the City limits "Washington's
Victorian Seaport Port Townsend" sign.
Youth Activities
Continue proctoring SATs for the EDC/Chambers Technical Trades
Scholarship Fund. Working with WSU to add ACT testing, which will
double the number of testing dates. Continue recruiting
partners and sponsors for the Jefferson County Business Expo. To date,
partners include Olympic Workforce Council, Puget Sound Energy, and
Rotary International of Port Townsend Noon Club.

Continue to visit local businesses to advise owners of Chamber activities,
Hood Canal Bridge closure mitigation status, and hear their concerns.
